An Intranet is a network for any individual private or government company, it is run along the lines of the World Wide Web. The intranet makes it possible to share documents, databases and applications among many computers in the same company. Intranets have revolutionized the way organizations share information internally, just as the Internet will revolutionize the way businesses communicate with external suppliers, customers and consultants. There are software that let you implement Intranets in your company. A Microsoft Office suite allows to surf Word and Excel documents, reading them in a local Web site in a much similar way, that a web page designer would have designed them. An intranet uses Internet Protocol technology to share information, operational systems, or computing services within an organization.
